WFMU started their 2012 fundraising marathon and I want to encourage everyone to listen to WFMU and donate!
Why? Because…
WFMU is a listener supported, freeform radio station, so the DJ's have the freedom to play whatever they want.
WFMU plays everything! Top hits from various time periods, obscure bands you've never heard before, tapes found at Goodwill, music sent to them in the mail, wax cylinders you probably don't have the equipment to play… everything! I guarantee, you will find something you like on WFMU.

Being listener supported also means WFMU relies on listener donations. WFMU is not a commercial radio station and they're not a government supported radio station like PBS, CBC, or BBC either. They *need* their listeners to support them.
