I had some pictures taken of the Hourglass Heaven Color-Block dresses at PhotoArt last month. I had two models for the photo-shoot, Teresa and Felisha. It was so hard to pick which shot to go with; they looked like an awesome dynamic duo in all of the pics. :)
Cross-posting from Hourglass Heaven, cause the pics are too awesome not to share. :) I had some pictures taken of the Hourglass Heaven Color-Block dresses at PhotoArt last month. I got my second hydrafacial. No after pic this time...cause it wouldn't have been pretty. :P No fault of the hydrafacial.
I tried a new sunscreen a couple days before my appointment and it clogged my pores terribly! So I had a bit of a breakout several places on my face. :( Since my skin wasn't very happy, we just did the plain hydrafacial again this time (no extras). She did turn everything up to the maximum this time, which did have different results. The suction definitely felt more intense and the glycolic acid step was a bit stingy. For several days afterwards I had dryness and peeling, which was completely different than my first hydrafacial. The first time my skin felt super-hydrated afterwards. This time, not so much. I had to make sure I applied a good moisture barrier cream twice a day for about a week after. My skin is sensitive and it's combination skin, so YMMV. I think the dryness and peeling was from the glycolic acid; it seemed to act more like a peel this time. I had a couple of people ask me "What is a Hydrafacial?", so I thought I'd provide a link to Amrita's website, which provides a great explanation with lots of details. Protein Are you eating enough? Too much? Too little? Do you know how much you should be eating? Recommendations vary, I know I discovered I was eating less than the average person in N. America and too little in general. I think this is an issue sometimes, that we underestimate our protein needs. Here's a good article from Harvard Medical School that talks about some of the research about protein and the RDA vs. what you should consume for optimum health, Also, here's a great video from Dr. Bikman with a clear explanation of the range you may want to target for Carbs, Protein and Fat based on some of the latest research & lots of good info about insulin and glucagon. Crickets! I saw this at my local Great Canadian Superstore: Cricket protein powder! The crickets are even farmed in Canada. It's supposed to be a great source of protein.
What do you think? Would you try it? Have you tried it? Right now I'm using a hemp protein powder. I think it's interesting that sneaker sales seem to be going up and women seem to be getting rid of more heels.
I do have high heels. I don't wear them often and own a lot more low to no heel shoes. Also, as I think most women do, I only put on high heels for "showtime". If I have to drive, walk, commute, or do anything beforehand I'll wear sensible shoes, probably sneakers, then change into heels. Do you wear high heels? Do you like them? Have you found high heels that are actually comfortable? For this week's post, I'm going with art and another edition of exposing people to experimental music. I think for many people their first introduction to experimental music is soundtracks. Whether you have realized it or not you probably have heard it in some of your favorite TV shows or films. One of the early pioneers of experimental music is Daphne Oram. In listening to her music, I realized I had created some pieces that were similar in sound to hers. I don't know if I actually heard her works before, but she did work with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and her sounds were used in Doctor No, Goldfinger, and a number of other films, so it's possible. I also learned she used a similar technique for some of her music creation. She was the creator of Oramics, which involved drawing shapes on film that was then translated into sound by a machine. Some of the music I create uses software to translate images into sound, so it's a very similar process. I can choose how slowly the software "reads" the image as a score, the note range for the sounds, what sounds are used, how the colors in the image are interpreted, etc. For a good read, check out the Wikipedia article for more details. Time for philosophical comics!
I thought this comic does a great job of explaining postmodernism and poking fun at some of the misunderstandings that some people seem to have about what it means. |
